Every time a suspicious seller or fake listing is reported and reviewed, it protects every other student on your campus who might have encountered the same account. Reporting is not optional — it is how the community stays clean.

You do not need to be certain before reporting. If something feels wrong — recycled photos, prices that are extremely below market, refusal to answer basic questions, requests for off-platform payment before inspection — submit the report and let the review process handle verification. When in doubt, report anyway

A mistaken report from a genuine user is far less harmful than a real scam that goes unreported.

What counts as reportable

Any of the following behaviours justify a report: listings with photos stolen from the internet or other sellers, sellers asking for payment before any inspection or meetup, prices that are dramatically below market with an urgent pickup story, accounts with no campus selected or no profile photo pushing unusually good deals, and sellers who become hostile or threatening when basic questions are asked.

How to report a listing

Capture the listing, chat messages, and any agreed price before reporting in case you need to refer to it later.

  • Open the listing and tap the three-dot menu in the top right corner
  • Select “Report listing” and choose the most accurate reason from the available options
  • Add specific details in the description field — specific reports are reviewed faster than generic ones
  • Submit and save a screenshot of the listing and chat for your own records

How to report a user directly

From the seller's profile, use the report option to flag the account rather than just the listing. This is more powerful when a seller has multiple suspicious listings or a history of bad behaviour on the platform.

A user-level report triggers a wider account review. Use it when you believe the account itself is fraudulent, not just a single listing.

What happens after a report is submitted

Reports are reviewed by the CampusPlug team. If a listing or account violates community guidelines, it is removed and the account may be suspended. You will not always receive a direct notification, but your report is acted on.

For serious matters involving financial loss or personal safety threats, also contact your campus security and the FCCPC. In-app reporting handles marketplace violations. Physical safety matters require physical authorities.
